Sustainability is an interplay of people, the environment and profits in the broadest sense. The choices made by Noord Natie Odfjell Antwerp Terminal today contribute to the well-being of our staff and the long-term development of our company. We are aware of our responsibility and are actively taking steps to:

  • reduce our carbon footprint;
  • invest in training, talent and diversity;
  • innovate with sustainable technologies and processes.

We are working with our stakeholders on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and we execute several sustainable actions under the Voka Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship (VCDO) every year. Healthy ambitions make a healthy company.

Reduce environmental impact

Water, waste, energy, mobility, environment—Noord Natie Odfjell Antwerp Terminal prioritises sustainability. We are focused on reducing consumption and emissions while meeting—and often surpassing—national and international regulations. We have been working on sustainable solutions since 2017:

Wastewater

We ensure wastewater treatment with an efficiency of more than 95%, contributing to improved water quality.

Rainwater

We collect rainwater for use in our office building, which covers 70% of our sanitary water needs.

Emissions

We minimise our emissions to air and soil through continuous improvement of our tank equipment and processes.

We invest in renewable energy, climate-neutral offices, LED lighting at the terminal, insulation of our storage tanks and sustainable processes to further reduce our carbon footprint.

Mobility

We are committed to electric vehicles, charging stations and a bicycle plan.

The people behind our sustainability

Sustainability is a mindset that starts with our employees. As such, we invest heavily in training, talent development and social engagement. We have highlighted a few initiatives:

  • Good Life working group: Various departments meet regularly to formulate new ideas regarding sustainability and well-being. Every voice counts, and we encourage everyone to participate. All ideas are welcome!
  • Green initiatives: We have installed a green search engine on all computers and reduced our paper use, and we organise litter clean-up campaigns
  • External initiatives: We donate old computers and support local charities.
